The study Low-Emission Natural Gas in Latin America and the Caribbean analyzes the natural gas value chain in the region (upstream, midstream, and downstream), quantifies its greenhouse gas emissions—particularly methane—and evaluates reduction scenarios through 2050. It proposes the certification of Low-Emission Natural Gas (LENG), estimates the associated investment needs, and presents a roadmap with ambition levels, certification alternatives, and institutional arrangements to align the natural gas industry with LAC’s decarbonization commitments.
