Frequently Asked Questions
CAll knowledge products developed by OEMLAC—including technical reports, specialized publications, case studies, and interactive data visualization tools—will be available on the Observatory’s official website. This space will serve as an open platform for accessing up-to-date, rigorous, understandable, and useful information to support decision-making in the region.
In its first years of operation, OEMLAC has focused on reducing methane emissions across all stages of the oil and gas industry’s production chain within the energy sector. However, in the medium term, the Observatory plans to expand its scope to include other industries relevant to the region, such as biofuels, open-pit mining, and hydroelectric power generation.
The OEMLAC relies primarily on official information reported by member countries, both in national publications and to international bodies with which they have entered into reporting and transparency commitments. This information is supplemented by secondary sources and validated through cross-checking processes with technical authorities and regional and international organizations specializing in the field, in order to ensure the quality, accuracy, and usefulness of the knowledge products developed.
